Established in 1902 after the family had been farming growing seed in the area, William Arthur Church produced a surplus of his own seed and decided to sell this to neighbouring farmers; this was to be the beginning of the seed company that still bears his name.
Over the years we have evolved into supplying specialist seed to companies not only in the UK but into Europe and Worldwide. The majority of our seed is grown in the UK, locally to ourselves here on the Essex / Suffolk border.
The types of seed that we trade have changed very little over the last 120 years. Today we specialise mostly in Peas and Beans, which are used for the vining industry, human consumption, garden and pigeon trade. We are the sole maintainers of Minerva Maple Peas, Maris Bead Beans, English Early Common Vetch, Thousand Head Kale, Marrow Stem Kale, Broad Leaf Essex Red Clover, Tilney Mustard, Broad Leaf Essex Rape and English Giant Rape. All of which are listed on our website and within our catalogue.
In 1998 we became the UK agent for Pure Line Seeds Inc., a company from USA who specialise in vining pea seed, of which we grow a number of their varieties, which has been continued to this day.
All of our seed processing and mixing for all situations and scenarios is done on site, meaning we can not only offer our own standard products, but also offer you something completely bespoke to your own requirements and specification.
We have built a reputation on offering a quality service and products that match this. We continue to run as a fourth generation family business and pride ourselves on maintaining this same reputation.
